The lakefront is also host to a variety of activities and dining opportunities, from cozy local favorites to extensive resort facilities, almost all of which provide courtesy docks and staff, with a variety of different size slips, and often PWC lifts, making these amenities easily accessible to any type of watercraft. There is a wide range of dining possibilities, and bars tend to have signature cocktails according to their motif, and many have swimming pools, and even swim up bars, in addition to live music, entertainment, and daily or weekly specials. The majority of these locations are family and pet friendly, and a great deal of them have a children's pool, protected sandy beaches, playgrounds, and of course, children's menus and other family friendly amenities. Some of the larger waterside attractions feature indoor or outdoor waterparks, arcades for all ages, themed adventures, or provides access to spas, golfing, or residences on site or within their communities. With so many experiences available, both on the water and at the waters edge, it's clear why the Lake of the Ozarks is the Premier Lake Destination of the Midwest.

Lakefront homes nearly always have a boat dock, which can vary in size and amenities, and can be a frequent hub of activities, in addition to simple boat storage and accessibility. With so many dwellings in 'no wake' coves and hollows, or with a breakwater, swimming around the dock is a popular activity, as well as paddle sports, and a ladder or stairs are often built into the docks, putting these activities within easy reach. Diving platforms, and rope swings are also common, and an outdoor kitchen, bar, or lounge area creates a welcoming environment to enjoy the Lake on any occasion, without ever leaving your own home. Sometimes enjoying a sunrise coffee, an afternoon on the dock with the family, or a sunset gathering of friends, can be the best Lake activity, and easily attainable on a daily basis.
